By Urgent Part 2 – Urgent Death Row Dogs

Did 9 year old Teddy just wander too far from his Queens home or did his owners decide they couldn’t care for him any longer? Whatever happened, Teddy is sitting in a cage at Brooklyn ACC wondering what he could have done wrong that was bad enough to land him there. Putting on his best manners during his initial intake, Teddy was found to be in good health. But being a mellow, older gentleman doesn’t count for much and ACC’s got Teddy on tomorrow’s euthanasia list. Tonight, this boy needs that someone out there who looks at him and just knows he’d be a great addition to their household. Teddy doesn’t require all those baby or teenage doggie things. What he needs now is someone to take him for long, slower walks; someone who will make sure he gets decent food; someone who lets him lounge around as they’re watching TV; someone who will let him know they’ll be there for him no matter what. If that’s you, step up to foster or adopt Teddy. But do it quick-tomorrow, ACC will lead Teddy down the hall to the room where all the gone dogs end up.

Do you remember Cara? She was rescued from AAS off the EU list in April 2013….

By Partners of Arlington Animal Services (TX ) – PAAS

Do you remember Cara? She was rescued from AAS off the EU list in April 2013. Well look at her NOW!!!! Cara’s mommy messaged us these pictures and had this to say about her:

Cara was heartworm positive, and was on the EU list and was saved moments before it was too late. She was also deemed dog aggressive. As you can see from the picture, she’s far from dog aggressive. She’s on a slow kill heartworm treatment and has been on it for 8 months, and is feeling much better. She didn’t know what toys were, or kids, or what it felt like to be a part of a family…it’s been a slow process, but she’s becoming a real dog now. She LOVES toys, she loves coming fishing with us, and going for rides in the car. Cara is only 2, but when I got her she seemed about 6 years old. It’s been an amazing experience to watch her transform, and act like a young dog…carefree. She loves life, she loves her human brothers (ages 3 & 7) and she’ll never be used for breeding EVER again!

I saw Cara’s picture through a friend on Facebook, she was in Texas, and I’m in Vermont, but I knew I had to have her! I hope that distance never deters anyone from adopting a dog that grabs your heart. We are proof that it’s possible! Also, heartworm is not a death sentence. She’s going to live a long, healthy life just like any other dog. Thank you for sharing her on Facebook, and to my friends Brandy Barnett & J. Michael Ates for making this happen. Without y’all, she wouldn’t be here!
Love from Erin & Cara in VT

Weight 26.0

A volunteer writes:
Pom Pom is a colorful, pint-sized ball of fun, scampering and dancing around with all her little might on this very cold winter’s day. She’s a committed explorer in the back yard, investigating all the various toys laying about before switching her attention to the other dogs passing by her playpen. Given her fabulous coat and manicured nails, it appears Pom Pom has been a well-cared for family pet until just recently. She takes care of business once outside and takes treats gently from my hand. Being a bit rambunctious at times, Pom Pom might need a little guidance to grow into a responsive adult. So if you're the kind of person who can commit, then come see Pom Pom. She's a pint-sized delight!

Behavior: NH Only
Helper
Pompom was a bit excited during the handling items, but was easy to coax in to position. She was a bit distracted during the tag test, but approached the assessor with a loose body when coaxed after play. Pompom calmly lifted her head out of the dish during the food bowl test. She growled and bit the assess a hand during the toy and rawhide items. Pompom rushed towards the helper …read more
