By Urgent Part 2 – Urgent Death Row Dogs

CAN YOU SEE BUBBLE NOW?! Do we have to shout? What does a Good Dog have to do to be noticed around here? This is Bubble’s THIRD NIGHT IN A ROW ON THE EUTH LIST, and he’s been avoided like the plague. What’s wrong with this picture? 🙁
A volunteer writes: Bubble is a miraculous kind of dog. If you are looking for a calm influence, a zen energy, an always-warm but never-hyper dog, look no further. And if she’s like this in the shelter, can you imagine how wonderful she would be in a loving home? Walking with Bubble, you could almost forget she was beside you she is so elegant on the leash (we would never forget her, as she is unforgettably dear.) She’s a gorgeous, kind girl who gets back into her kennel as if she thinks she deserves nothing more, but then lies so close to the front we can imagine she is dreaming and waiting for her forever person or home to come by.

***RONDO WANTS NOTHING MORE THAN TO PLEASE YOU***
A volunteer writes “Majestic is the best way to describe Rondo. Majestic. Stunning in his lush grey coat, perfect on the leash, low key and easy, his majesty was surrendered along with his friend Justice ( A0997421) as his family is moving where dogs are not welcome. Rondo lived with 1 adult, 2 teens and 1 child, is said to get along with all people, is playful, loves to be petted, and knows ‘sit’, ‘lie down’ and ‘give paw’. We are also told that he is crate trained which may explain why he’s so perfectly behaved in his kennel, and jumps back in after a walk without fuss. He goes potty as soon as we are out the door, and then it’s almost like not having a dog at the other end of my leash – he’s that easy! Good with other dogs we met, we walked with another volunteer and her dog, and he was the perfect gentleman the entire time walking quietly by my side. Off leash in the backyard he quietly greets other dogs that stop by to say hello, shows off his ‘sit’ and takes a reward treat gently. His majesty, Rondo, is hoping you’ll stop by to meet him today. He’s a big boy and so chill and easy – more to love. Meet him, you’ll see what I mean.”

By Urgent Part 2 – Urgent Death Row Dogs

Maxine has been at Manhattan ACC for over a month, and was adoptable up until TODAY, when she failed her re-SAFER. No one was interested in her when she had a Good Dog SAFER; maybe now someone will be? If you can foster or adopt this beauty, contact New Hope rescues NOW.
A volunteer writes: It’s hard not to notice Maxine in her kennel… when she sees me coming she wags her tail, stands on her hind legs and lets me know she’d love to go out. So, out we go!! Her gorgeous brindle coat is healthy looking and gleams in the sunlight. She smiles, wags her tail and her eyes light up as we’re off leash in the back yard. A ball? Let’s play! Hurry up! Throw it! Maxine is a bundle of delightful energy looking for an active home in which plenty of exercise and playtime are daily occurrences. She’s proof that good things come in small packages!

*** FABULOUS AVERAGE SAFER ***
Kissy is all that! Vols love her, but she needs more that love to survive. Read her vol comments, and share for a foster or adopter. “You’ll need to wear your sunglasses when meeting Miss Kissy, as her gorgeous dark chocolate brindle coat just GLEAMS with good care. Her nails are trimmed, her weight perfect for her size and her teeth are white and clean. Clearly a cherished companion before joining us as a ‘stray’, Kissy has been well taken care of. She gives stand up hugs when we meet, and yup, kisses too! Likely housetrained she ‘went’ as soon as we were out the door, and off we went to the park. She pulls on the leash so will benefit from some training, but her tail is in constant wag mode at everyone and everything. Off leash in the back yard she shows me how perfectly she sits when asked to, takes treats gently and then runs off to chase a ball. Play bowing at some dogs who stopped by to say hello, Kissy is social and friendly and seems to like other dogs, barking a quick greeting to accompany her bow. Making soft eye contact she poses for photos like a pro, and her eyes shine with intelligence and warmth. We don’t know Kissy’s past but hopefully can guarantee her a future filled with love and continued good care.” Kissy needs out by noon tomorrow.

By Urgent Part 2 – Urgent Death Row Dogs

Elsa is a young girl just about a year old at the Manhattan shelter. She is on tomorrows euth list so please share and advocate for her tonight before it is to late…
A volunteer writes: Elsa is a young and active lassie who was found as a stray. She is pretty and petite and really smart. Her eyes are so lively. Elsa is a bit on the thin side but wears a lovely and well groomed tan coat. She seems to have a faint ridge going from her neck to her tail. Could she have a Ridgeback up her family tree? She is eager to come out of her kennel. Too many dogs are barking around her and she wants to stretch her legs. Leashed easily, she walks quite well and eliminates as soon as we reach the yard. She loves treats and will sit for them on command. She will even sit without me asking as she knows that a treat is coming.. She is one clever girl… Elsa is a bit stressed, though, I guess by her abandonment and her confinement. She is on alert when she hears barking, paces and will bark at other pooches passing by. She relaxes when we are just the two of us, playing and chatting. She does not play ball but likes to run, being chased and chase. She is energetic although not over the top. Elsa is a cute little girl i have to get to know a little bit more when she will have settled down. I am looking forward to meet her again and discover her secrets. Elsa is at the Manhattan Care Center waiting for her forever best friend.

By Urgent Part 2 – Urgent Death Row Dogs

1 year old, 95 lbs, what a gorgeous dog Kodee is! Brought to Brooklyn ACC because of his owner’s personal problems, Kodee was initially a little nervous about being led away from his person to undergo an intrusive medical exam. But that he cooperated as best he could and outside of some irritation around his neck, Kodee was found to be in decent health. Leaving home, sitting in a crate 24 x7, hearing all those strange dogs barking all day and night—all that takes a toll on a good boy like Kodee. ACC has now decided that after suffering through all of that, Kodee has to go and they’ve put him on tomorrow’s euthanasia list. Tonight, Kodee needs that special person who looks at his video and sees what a gentle giant he is, that he likes to sit for treats, and that he tries so hard to remember his manners. Tonight, Kodee needs to find that person who can picture in their head what it would be like to go strolling through the neighborhood with this handsome boy, what it would be like to have him lie quietly at your feet as you’re both watching TV, and what it would be like to teach this pup all those grown up doggie things every 1 year old wants to learn. If that’s you, then come forward to foster or adopt Kodee. Don’t wait—tomorrow, ACC will make Kodee just another great dog who is gone forever.

***AVERAGE RATED PUPPY! ***
You can’t get much better than Kenan the pup. Found tied as a stray, he not only dazzled his finder but he aced his behavioral eval! This young friendly sweetheart is ready to go on to life’s great adventures but ACC has slated him to die tomorrow instead. Tonight, Kenan needs to find that one person who is ready to have this handsome boy by their side to explore all that the world has to offer. He needs someone who will help him learn all the grown up doggie things and someone who will be more than happy to get all those doggie kisses. If that’s you, then step up to foster or adopt Kenan. But act quick—don’t think that ACC wouldn’t kill a perfect pup like Kenan.

By Urgent Part 2 – Urgent Death Row Dogs

This isn’t Cortana’s first time at ACC, and apparently, it was NEVER the owner’s fault that she kept ending up there. She has even escaped the euth list once already. Now her time is up AGAIN. Cortana’s story is one of real betrayal and a complete lack of responsibility. This is the last chance for us to right the wrong. Is there one person out there who could foster or adopt this poor gal? Please do read the heartbreaking and very honest staff bio below… and give Cortana a chance!
A staff member writes: This is Cortana’s third stay at the care center. By this time I have come to know her quite well. And I continue to both appreciate and mourn how a dog’s circumstances can affect their behavior. When Cortana first arrived in June 2013 as an owner surrender, her bio stated that she was just a youngster having a hard time adjusting, wary of everyone and everything. Every moment outside of her kennel was a struggle, tail tucked, body cowering. That time she was reclaimed. She joined us again one month later as a stray and was, once again, reclaimed by her owner. This time Cortana comes to us via a different owner who was given her by a neighbor who got her from a friend. So in less than a year, Cortana has spent significant time in at least 4 different locations. Her demeanor with those she remembers is actually quite good. She is friendly and affectionate, though anxious and very needy. She is fearful of new people and new situations, and will protect herself if need be. Cortana is not the kind of dog who should be moved like furniture from one home to another. What Cortana needed more than anything in her younger years …read more

By Urgent Part 2 – Urgent Death Row Dogs

The Brooklyn shelter seems choc full of friendly pups who need to find a home by tomorrow afternoon or else they will be put to death. You’d think that the rivalry would make the pups testy but British like the others is a loving lady. British is one of the youngest dogs – only 1-year-old – to be placed on tomorrow’s Kill List. She’s so anxious for human contact that she’s bruised her tail from the constant wagging against her kennel walls. British is more petite than the other girls too as she weighs just barely 40-pounds. She’s a gorgeous white girl whose appearance is marred only by a few scars and healing wounds of uncertain origin. British has the distinction of bearing one brown eye and one blue eye. Can you imagine her joy if someone like you came to rescue her from certain death tomorrow? Please share British everywhere you can.

Sweet Paulis is in grave danger. Please read the wonderful thing vols have to say, and share for a foster or adopter. ” ‘You gotta be kidding me with this cuteness!’ That kind of thing gets said around Paulie a lot, to him, about him, in passing and in person. What an adorable, loving and fun-seeking puppy! Paulie is everything one could wish for in a young dog–he adores interacting with people, wagged his tail like crazy when he passed other dogs in the yard, and danced with delight from the moment he was let out of his kennel until the moment he had to return. He is a most excellent snuggler, a pro-ball player in the making, and an all around good time boy. Paulie is missing two things at the moment that we very much hope will be rectified ASAP: Some meat on his bones (he is too skinny), and a forever home. We’re hoping you might be able to help in both regards in one fell swoop!” Paulie has until noon tomorrow.

***Lost Boy Needs Your Help Tonight!***
A volunteer writes: Say hello to Tiesan, the Peter Pan of pitties! He looks and acts just like an adorable puppy but Tieson has a secret…at 3 years old this charming boy is really a grown-up in disguise! Skitter skitter skitter is the soundtrack of his untrimmed nails as he leaps, dances and play-bows around me, beyond thrilled to be out and about with his human and so full of loving energy that he just can’t contain himself. Once the initial burst of excitement subsides, Tiesan walks fine on leash and waits until we hit the street to take care of his pressing business. He greets other dogs with friendly enthusiasm and is such a little wigglebutt with people, getting up for hugs or putting his paws on my lap for mere seconds before he quickly snuffle-kisses my chin and squirms off to explore some more. Judging by his flat ‘crate feet’ I’d guess that Tiesan’s previous owner didn’t devote much time to teaching him the ins and outs of genteel manners (or in fact, spend much time with him at all) but he’s a smart cookie with a good heart, and a little encouragement in the form of treats (he loves them!) works wonders. Tiesan learns how to sit within minutes and after a bit of practice he’s soon waiting politely and taking biscuits from my hand like an old pro. This dapper chap may be feeling kind of highly strung at the moment but he remains very soft and easy to handle throughout our time together and gives me no problems at all returning to his den. There’s a truly ‘Lost Boy’ at our Manhattan Care Center and he’s waiting and hoping for the chance to be found by you…Recapture the innocent …read more
