ONLY 1 YEAR OLD – SUPER FRIENDLY!! Not much is known about sweet Sally. She came in as a stray at a healthy size and weight, indicating that she had a home. She has been waiting patiently at the shelter for her family to come for her but no one has. She is only one year old and super friendly. She needs and deserves to have a home where she will be cherished and treated like the family memeber she longs to be. She is only a year old and wants to be your best friend for the rest of her life. Please give her a home again and please act now. Her time is up and the shelter does not care what a nice dog she is. Without a home she will die tomorrow at noon.

***Oh! What a face! Help this extraordinary boy find his way in to a home home!***
A volunteer writes: Jellynose reminds me of my Uncle George in so many ways…… he ambles along at an easy pace, stopping to “smell the roses” so to speak…..content and happy to sniff all the good smells (not my Uncle George, Jellynose). His front legs are bowed but doesn’t effect his ability to walk or do anything else, his face is serious and frowny, almost like a cartoon character, but when he looks up with love and plants a big wet kiss on me I’m in heaven. So easy to be with, gentle and calm, Jellynose is likely housetrained, leaving a clean kennel and peeing a river as soon as we were outside. And while he doesn’t solicit affection or attention, when he gets it he wags his tail a mile a minute, snuggles close and gives kisses. Uninterested in playing ball, or my treats, he loved having other dogs around, wagging his tail easily as others stopped by our pen. His leash manners are good, he never pulls, simply strolling along at a leisurely pace. He’s a low rider, compact and good looking in his tan coat and black velvet ears and nose. Jelly is a mature dog who will be happy keeping you company as you watch your favorite TV show, and discussing the latest plot twist on Under the Dome or The Good Wife. He will, of course, agree completely with your point of view!

*** HIT BY A CAR – RESCUE ONLY – APPLY NOW! ***

Those misshapen lumps on the side of Hera’s face are no camera snafu. Poor Hera was hit head on by a car. She has a broken jaw, fractured teeth & a cut tongue AND YET she’s the sweetest girl in the building. The folks who went to retrieve the dog that was hit by a car were astounded to be greeted by her wagging tail. Hera wasn’t in shock as she has remained gentle and cooperative through the stitching of her tongue. Her jaw and broken teeth need some work at a veterinarian and there’s the rub. Hera is a New Hope Only adoption on tomorrow’s Kill List and no one is claiming her in order to save her life. She was a stray when hit by the car; she weighs about 52-pounds and she’s about 3-years old. Hera’s bio relates: “The staff members that brought her into the shelter could not believe how sweet and social Hera was despite the pain she must have been in. She has been a trooper through all of her medical exams, and genuinely seems to enjoy affection!” Please share Hera & think about bringing her home with you.

***GO BIG – HE IS SO WORTH IT! ***

Milo has no clue that he’s a big, imposing fella. As far as he knows he might as well be a small terrier. Milo is a pit bull mix but he doesn’t have a typical terrier disposition. Milo is friendly, humorous and mellow. He’s only about 1-year-old but he’s managed to gain 83-pounds in his single year on this earth. Milo was found as a stray, possibly discarded as a puppy because he can’t provide puppies. Whatever the reason for Milo’s loneliness, he’s happy to watch the world go by outside his kennel. Milo will eat his dinner tonight having no idea that he is eating his last meal. Will you help us scan the city for someone to adopt Milo in time? He only has tonight.

**SAFER: AVERAGE HOME**
Jill is a 2 year old who rocked her behavior evaluation, scoring the coveted Average rating! Her owners lost their home which is how Jill ended up at the ACC along with her BFF Mack (A1007522). Being an Average rated gal, Jill is sure to be a rockstar dog in her new home as this rating means she passed all behavior evaluations with flying colors. Jill has been in a home environment before as a pet obviously and needs to be that again. Please don’t let this young lady die tomorrow which is what the ACC has in mind. Jill has until noon to be taken by her hero or she will be gone forever. Don’t let that happen—advocate mightily for this well-behaved miracle named Jill now!

***Six years old and HANDSOME!! Tyson needs to find a place to be by noon! Help him…share/foster/adopt/advocate!***
A volunteer writes: A dog like Tyson makes a lasting impression. He stands out in his kennel..although he is always found laying on his blanket. Scared and grumpy upon arrival, then plain sad and now sick with a cold….His beauty rules and overcomes what ever is going on with him, making me want to spend time with him. He is a masterpiece of a dog, said to be a cross between an American Bulldog and a Dalmatian, the latter having soften Tyson’s facial features.Tyson was relinquished into our care as his owners were moving out of the country…. .”Loving, affectionate and caring” are the words that came to Tyson ‘s former master’ s mind when asked to describe his dog. Respectful and playful with children, relaxed with cats, exuberant with other pooches. A well mannered pet accross the board with no behavioral issues recognized by Tyson’s former family.Tyson was reluctant to come out of his den. He wears the world on his shoulders….A little tugging, gentle words and this beautiful giant honored me with his company. We walked slowly to the yard where he eliminated right away in one stop. He seemed fine with other dogs nearing us although one can not really judge the behavior of a dog who is not feeling well. Free in a pen, Tyson chose to stay next to me, ate a soft treat and laid down at my feet, thankful , I think for the petting and the sweet words. What a gorgeous dog ! ***Contact a New Hope rescue TONIGHT to save Adu!*** A volunteer writes: At 15 years old, after spending his entire life with his family, Adu was surrendered to our care as they are moving out of the country. He’s been trained as a guard dog, kept outside, trained to bark at strangers when his family isn’t home. He was never left alone in his home, sleeping at night in the boiler room. He loved his owner, playful, jumping up for kisses, loves to play fetch, doesn’t guard his ‘stuff’, and only went potty in the yard. Considering that Adu is in a situation he doesn’t understand, and is understandably concerned about it, he’s doing pretty well. He loves treats and takes them hungrily his favorite treats being hot dogs and hamburgers! While he wasn’t quite comfortable being pet, he let me stroke him from time to time. Adu has a lot to get used to in the shelter and is doing his best to adjust. He’ll need time to figure out a new way of life, but being the survivor he is, will figure it out. He should be in an adult only home without any small animals even though he is said to have lived well and respectfully with a Yorkie. Can an old dog be taught new tricks? You bet!

Mack is back in town! Unfortunately Mack’s owners lost their home and he has therefore ended up in the “care” of the ACC along with his BFF Jill (A1007524). Mack is a 2 year old guy who has one of those adorable underbites that we all adore! Given that his owner’s lost their home, money must have been scarce for Mack’s care. Therefore the intake team noted some thinning hair on Mack’s limbs which could use a vet’s once over to correct. Other than that this guy is good to go! Please help Mack find a new home now—he needs is by noon tomorrow or he will be gone forever. Pull out all the stops to advocate for Mack now!

***Available for Adoption!***Poor Luie, returned because he is a puppy with puppy tendencies. Instead of taking the time to train him, to show him what to do and what not to do, it is easier to just surrender him and let him become someone else’s problem. Well, Luie has been around the block more than once, meaning he has been at the shelter before. so now because Luie is being a puppy, which he is by the way, only 8 months old, he has become a “problem” dog. and problem dogs go fast at the shelter. Meaning they go on the list. Luie only needs some training and guidance, don’t let him die because he wants to play and have fun. share him for a forever home now. a REAL forever home, one where he will be properly taken care of , given guidance, and let to be a puppy. ***Looking for a new best friend?? So is Shay!***
A volunteer writes: I thought I was looking at a puppy when I first met Shay, a compact little girl dressed in a perfectly groomed grey coat with faint latte markings. She was so cute with her square face and ears flopping in the air as she was running and jumping after a tennis ball. Shay was a little tense, crying and sometimes barking for no clear reason at the beginning of her stay with us. I got the chance to meet her again few days down the line ..Shay was very much a well behaved young lady, even frisky at times but walking nicely by my side and cuddling on the bench next to me. She can sit on command and for treats . Shay has a hefty appetite. Her figure is perfect , though. She seems to have been well cared for until her abandonment….Shay appears to want to play with other dogs and adopts a play position with some of them. Little Shay is at the Manhattan Care Center. ***AVERAGE RATED SAFER***
After 7 years of what he thought was a loving home Brooklyn’s owners dumped him into the shelter due to personal problems. Now Brooklyn will be destroyed tomorrow if he is not saved by noon tomorrow. Please help before it is to late,,,,
A volunteer writes: Brooklyn is my kind of guy! He is past his puppy years, but still so full of life and just oozes sweetness. He is very quiet in his cage, but as soon as I took him out he lit up with joy! He almost reminded me of Kramer from Seinfeld as he exited – exuberance manifesting as clumsiness as his feet got ahead of him! As we passed the other dogs he even play bowed at them! He relieved himself immediately outside and it seems he may have been holding it for a while, so it’s likely Brooklyn is housebroken. He walks nicely on leash and has the cutest pep to his step – he sort of kicks his front paws out. He is very attentive – often looking up with those big brown eyes and wags his tail for the duration of his walks. He loves treats and sits nicely for them. He play bows to dogs outside as well! Brooklyn loves to be pet and is one of my favorite dogs to have at my side! He is so sweet, low-key and has the perfect energy level. ***ADOPT DIRECTLY VIA ACC AT RISK SITE! ***

That face! Rocket looks as though he’s watching the saddest love story ever told. In face he himself is the subject of a very sad love story. He’s only around 2-years-old and already he finds himself walking the streets in search of a home. Rocket craves love and physical sustenance too. It’s so unlikely that anyone is going to pick Rocket simply because there are so many other homeless dogs in this city. Rocket is average in size but he’s scared of being trapped in this shelter. Rocket especially is afraid of what happens to dogs when they’re walked to THAT room down at the end of the hall. He’s never seen a dog walk out of that room. Rocket will be scared to pieces tomorrow when they leash him for his own walk. He might soil himself with fear. We can save Rocket if we find a home in time. By Urgent Part 2 – Urgent Death Row Dogs

Puppies love to impress the people they love, which is why the people they love need to give them guidance about What To Do, and What Not To Do. Whoever used to own 12-month-old Coco thought this little guy would just automatically know what to do—-don’t bark at people unless you’re supposed to, don’t be upset with people stealing your food when you’re hungry—-confusing things like that. Those folks kept Coco for less than 6 months before deciding he was WAY too much dog for them. And, since he is not a stuffed animal, that appears to be the truth. Another truth is that Coco will die a painful death tomorrow afternoon, for no reason other than the ignorance of his most recent owners, unless his Urgent family can get him to safety tonight!

She owns sparkling and very expressive eyes . Her smile is engaging. She is one welcoming damsel in her kennel who knows how to make me understand that she wants out and be in company. She is a bit of a tomboy, strong, enthusiastic and energetic. She likes to jump for treats(that she loves…) or a toy but can sit on command. She pulls a little on the leash and eliminates in the street, leaving a den clean and orderly. She seems comfortable with other dogs, even met unclose. Shannel is a very friendly female who loves to be petted all over, tagged and played with. She is still a puppy at heart. I think she was well cared for and loved until her recent abandonment. She is tender and sweet too and will sit between my legs for caresses or roll on her back for belly rubs. Shannel is a very pleasant dog to spend time with. ****Please contact a New Hope Partner to make Max a part of your family!****
A volunteer writes: Ten year old …..Max’ss eyes are sharp and clear. His teeth are as white as if he was coming out of a dental hygienist office. He is spry, energetic, playful and his body, stance and attitude are the one of an at most 6-7 year old dog. Max is understandably a little tense. He is reserved but seems to like to be caressed. He gets all animated at the sight of a tennis ball and will run very fast and jump to catch it. He can sit on command and for treats. He comes when called. Max knows very well his name. He seems very much house trained as related to us by his former owner. He walks very calmly on the leash, basically along side me. Max was relinquished to us as his family could not care for a pet anymore. He comes with glowing comments and would be good with children, strangers and other dogs. He is known to be a friendly dog, very playful and affectionate. Max is a gorgeous dog, a cross between a Shepie and a Dobie, all clad in a sumptuous chocolate and mokka coat.
