***Available for Adoption!***A volunteer writes: Everyone’s abuzz about this floppy-eared hunk and staff and volunteers alike speculate on his heritage…is he mostly Hound or mostly Rottweiler? Whichever way you see it, Taylor is Gorgeous with a capital G! He may weigh in at an impressive 95 pounds but this low-key pooch is an easy walking companion for even the most petite female volunteers as his main focus is on calmly investigating and sniffing anything his big wet nose can reach. From tree bark to food wrapper and every sidewalk crack in between, no scent is too faint to escape the notice of Taylor and his super-keen sense of smell. He appears extremely house trained, maintaining a clean den and taking care of all his business outside and though he’ll sometimes balk at the noisy bustle of First Avenue, I get the sense that he’d be more than happy to stroll and investigate for hours. Taylor is still a little shy and has yet to really open up for me but he seems totally fine with handling and I can pet and snuggle him any way I please with no complaints at all. Toys and treats are politely ignored and while his interest in other dogs is minimal it does seem friendly and a gentle tail wag can even be seen on occasion. Could there be a playful clown hiding behind that handsome yet aloof exterior? It’s so hard to tell in the Care Center environment but whether he reveals himself as a puppy at heart or simply a couch potato who enjoys long walks in the park, even-tempered Taylor will make a sweet and stunning companion anyone would be proud to call their own. Ah, Mamasita! This young mother came in as a stray still lactating. This means someone has ripped her puppies away from her and threw her away once they got what they wanted from her. And yet, this darling girl is reported to be very friendly from the ACC intake staff. She allowed handling too, naturally. This little lady would make the perfect pet as she is obviously grace under pressure given that her puppies are now gone and she is still maintaining a positive attitude towards life. Mamasita sits in a cage waiting for someone to take her and love her—it is obvious she will give it back tenfold. Please don’t let Mamasita die tomorrow which is the plan as she is on the euth list. She is scheduled to be killed by noon tomorrow. Hurry and advocate for this gentle young lady now so that she can have that long and happy life she so deserves!

**ATTENTION** New Hours for NYC AC&C “AT RISK” (TO BE DESTROYED) ListStarting 7/24/13, the NYC AC&C has changed the hours that the “To Be Destroyed” animals will be available for rescue/adoption. The list will be released at 6PM (not 5PM,) but you will have access to their website (to “reserve”) until 12PM (NOON) the following day. Hopefully, the extra hours will give us an opportunity to save more lives. The shelter closes at 8PM but reopens at 8AM. You will be able to reserve animals on the PUBLIC site until 12 NOON. If the animal is rescue only, a rescue will be able to pull, up until 12 NOON. Please make note of the new hours and check back at 6PM for the list.
