By Angels Among Us Pet Rescue

Yep..It’s Halloween. The ghosts..the goblins..the witches…
But you wanna know what’s even scarier than all that?!? How about being pregnant and knowing that your life and the life of your unborn babies is just about to end. Now that is true fear.

Hi there. My name is Girlie. I am a flat-coated retriever and I am pregnant.

I didn’t mean to get pregnant but I hear that’s what happens when owners do not spay and neuter their pets. Turns out my owner is not a big fan of puppies because once he found out I was expecting, he surrendered me to the shelter. Now that’s a real house of horrors, not just on Halloween but 24/7.

But wait…it gets worse.

My owner did not just abandon me. He abandoned my sister too. Her name is Maggie May. Not only is she my sister, she is my best friend. She is scared too so we comfort each other by lying close together and keeping each other warm. To make matters even worse, our hearts are not only heavy with loneliness but heavy with heartworms as well. You see, our owner did not give us heartworm preventatives so now we have lost our chance at even being adopted. I mean really, who wants to adopt a pregnant dog who is sick with heartworms.

Well, that’s my Halloween story…

I don’t really like Halloween. I don’t like being scared and I have yet to see a treat.

Fortunately, there is a rescue group called Angels Among Us Pet Rescue and they said Halloween does not have to be scary. They exist to help save the lives of dogs like me and Maggie May.

**** GEM OF A GIRL LOOKING FOR A NEW HOME****
Looking at Diamond’s temperament assessment reveals a dog who is a joy. It’s filled with words like “soft”, “loose” “gently” and “squinty.” Diamond is recommended for an experienced family because someone in her previous home didn’t know much about doggie body language. Diamond’s previous owner relinquished her saying that she had bitten someone in her home. Diamond readily allowed the assessor to move her away from her bowl of food; and she behaved securely around other strange dogs. Diamond is initially very shy and somewhat fearful with folks as she needs a moment to assess her situation and to warm up. Sadly Diamond caught the kennel cold and now is to be killed tomorrow afternoon. We believe that Diamond deserves a chance at love. She’s 3-years old and she has never lived in a home that cherished her. Please help us find a new home for Diamond before the dreaded hour of her death tomorrow.

****NEEDS A SAVIOR TONIGHT****
Someone must have loved Emerald at one time because they gave him an expensive gem of a name. Emerald was brought in with his housemates as strays. Sadly, Emerald was surrendered as a “biter”, but during his assessment showed no concerning behavior; not to the assessor, not to the dog he was tested with, no one. So Emerald must have been scared and confused to be labeled what he was. Now Emerald sits on Death Row, waiting to die. Not knowing why or how. So sad for a dog with promise. Emerald is only 1 years old, he has a lifetime ahead of him to be happy, learn manners, whatever young dogs do. But only if he gets a chance and gets a new home. But he only has tonight, in a few hours, all will be over and Emerald will be only a memory. Don’t let this gem in the rough leave this earth too early. Share him for a forever home. Rescues are around, willing to help. They just need to hear from you.

**** SWEET CHANCE NEEDS HELP TONIGHT! **** The reasons for Chance’s sitting in…

By Urgent Part 2 – Urgent Death Row Dogs

**** SWEET CHANCE NEEDS HELP TONIGHT! ****

The reasons for Chance’s sitting in a cage at Brooklyn ACC are a bit confusing—we’re told his owner is too sick to care for him any longer and that he was brought in by a friend who had him for only 3 weeks. That friend, it seems, has a landlord who won’t allow pets. So it seems that everyone who ever mattered to Chance has gone and now ACC has decided that since none of them came for him, nobody else would—they’ve put this scared, sweet boy on tomorrow’s euthanasia list. And because he was scared and growled at that plastic hand that tried to take his food, they’ve made him New Hope only. Medically, Chance was found in decent health when he got there less than a week ago and remarkably, he has not caught the “shelter cold”. Tonight, Chance needs to find that one person who understands what an awful experience this has been for him. He’s been an only dog cared for by his human, and we learn that he’s leash trained, housebroken, likes long walks with a bit of jogging, loves to play fetch with a ball—a real bff to his human whose heart is now broken. If you think that you know what Chance is going through and can help him mend that heart, start working with rescues to foster or adopt Chance. But remember—ACC gave up on Chance a mere 4 days after he got there—at noon tomorrow, they won’t hesitate to make him gone forever.

**** AVERAGE HOME RATED****

5 year old Tyson has no idea why his people had to move someplace he couldn’t go. All he knows is that one minute he’s home with his people and his things and his friends, and the next minute, he’s sitting in a cage at Brooklyn ACC. Everyone can see what a handsome boy he is and at 5, he’s all over those baby and puppy learning times. ACC has now decided Tyson has to go asap and they’ve put him on tomorrow’s euthanasia list. Friendly during his intake medical—he was found to have some irritation around his ears but otherwise in good health and at a decent weight. Tonight, Tyson is looking for a soft bed, some decent food, long walks, maybe a play session in the yard or the doggie park and a new human who can be his very own person. In return, Tyson promises doggie kisses, promises to give you comfort if you’re blue, and promises many years of being your most loyal bff. If you’re ready for that, start working on fostering or adopting Tyson. But do it now. At noon tomorrow, Tyson will still be hoping and pleading but that won’t stop ACC from making him gone forever.
