By Urgent Dogs – Palm Beach County

Star is a wonderful, mellow, dog friendly and very submissive girl. She has been on the adoption floor for a month and was always a slim girl. No one at the shelter knew she was pregnant until she gave birth. Her baby is only 1 day old and the longer she spends at the shelter, the better chance she won’t make it. BOTH Star and her baby need urgent and immediate rescue. Star is a great dog who is also a great mother and this pair will not be separated. Please share!

By Urgent Part 2 – Urgent Death Row Dogs

*** CAN BE RESERVED ONLINE ***

It can be difficult to get a collar on Ivey because she is so busy wiggling with delight and kiss kiss kissing her walker’s hand. But oh, there are worse fates than being kissed by this dappled beauty, with her velvet-soft muzzle and darling wagging body. Ivey, who appears house trained, takes treats very gently and appears to be very friendly with other dogs. She would thrive in a household where she could have some consistent training not to jump and mouth when she gets excited, and instead offer only kisses, an activity at which she already excels! Another volunteer writes: Just like her botanical namesake, Ivey likes to climb all over the place! On a bench she’s on and then off my lap, ducking behind my back, frantically kissing my face and wagging her tail like crazy, there’s so much loving energy inside that cute little body she just can’t contain herself! She loves to play with balls but it’s only when I bring out a rubber squeaky toy that I get a glimpse of her most clownish side as Ivey kicks it, pushes it with her nose, stands on it to make a noise and feints back and forth like it was alive – she is too funny! When I tether her for photos she’s not happy and does get a little over-exuberant in the jumping and mouthing department but off leash she shows me what a good girl she can be (with the right motivation!) by sitting on command for her toys and plopping her butt down without my even needing to ask when tasty treats are on offer, taking them from my hand with an unbelievably soft mouth. Ivey walks quite well once in a harness and it’s clear …read more

*** AVAILABLE FOR PUBLIC ADOPTION ***

A volunteer writes:”Living up to his angelic name, gorgeous Gabriel is the fun and friendly puppy you never knew you were missing! He’s adorably curious and everything he encounters must be thoroughly snuffled, from toys to treats to clothing and even my pen – if this guy had a catch phrase it would surely be ‘What dat dere?’ Gabriel never guards his things and I can take a ball from his mouth with ease so it’s no surprise that he completely aced his behavior assessment, earning top scores on everything from handling to doggie social manners, way to go Gabriel! Never anything but totally engaged with what’s going on around him, he loves to give hugs, to play ball or tug-o-war and to eat as many treats as fast as possible. Coming when called to rest his front half beside me on the bench, he laps up my petting before sitting politely for food and even seems to be very house trained, ‘going’ immediately once freed from his kennel. Out in the yard I’ve got a bag of toys prepped for all the dogs I’m planning to walk and despite already having both a tennis ball and a squeaker he dives right on in, sniffing and ‘tasting’ every single one and I imagine that much as he adores playing with his friends, Gabriel’s idea of heaven would be a giant ball pit of toys all for himself! Abandoned by his former owner and brought into the Care Center by one of his neighbors, we’re told Gabriel has lived in harmony with both cats and dogs, is friendly to strangers and gets along well with children too – is there anyone this guy doesn’t love? He may be clad in midnight black but Gabriel just …read more

By Urgent Part 2 – Urgent Death Row Dogs

*** CAN BE RESERVED ONLINE ***

There is nothing better than a three year Labrador Retriever mix, the perfect age when these Peter Pan like characters start to get their puppyish personalities on track. Jacob arrived at NYCACC as a friendly stray, allowed all handling and easily was given a great bill of health during his intial medical exam. Clear eyes, a clean coat, everything was pointing in a positive direction at the start of his stay. Something went wrong a few days later and poor Jacob found himself with an isolated and lonely Department of Health Hold for ten days. Then more bad news after that ordeal he has been listed to be destroyed tomorrow after noon. It is time to act quickly, a friendly yellow lab mix with joy in heart should never be in this position. Fostering or adopting can save his life. The word must be spread by sharing this beautiful young boy before his time runs out and he has to go to never never land.
