By Angels Among Us Pet Rescue

“Holiday” doesn’t want a party hat. She could care less about a noise maker. Champagne? Nah. Not only is it bad for dogs, but she would much prefer some clean drinking water. This absolutely adorable bulldog sat for days at the same animal control facility as the bathtub pups, and was almost put to sleep because she had no willing adopters and the shelter was running out of space.

Her eyes leveled us, and we simply couldn’t leave her behind today. For the life of me, I can’t imagine how this dog wasn’t scooped right up, yet she came perilously close to dying. Crazy, right? But it happens all too often.

Holiday was housed next to some sick dogs in the shelter and we are keeping paws crossed that she stays healthy. At a minimum, she will need a foster home in Atlanta, full intake vetting, and a spay. It is entirely possible that she could break with a URI or kennel cough.

Tonight we are asking our global angels to please help us help her with a special holiday donation for “HOLIDAY.” Should more donations be received for her than what are needed, we will use those funds to help another. Donations have been down recently, which obviously limits our ability to pull and rescue dogs, especially since so many of them break with medical conditions after they are within our foster homes…all treatable, but costly.

A1516871 MOCHA
Poor Mocha needs an angel! This gorgeous yet totally frightened 6 year-old female, white Snowshoe has had a rough go of it. Apparently, Mocha was brought into the shelter October 22nd and from her microchip, it was determined that she had a possible owner. But sadly, when Mocha’s former owner was contacted, they said that they had surrendered Mocha to an animal hospital in June of this year but no reason was given. So it seems she was given up twice this year. Mocha was just recently transferred to North Central from West LA. And the entire time she’s been at both shelters, no one’s been able to touch her. She just stays hidden in her paper bag. We feel so bad for this girl! We don’t know how it’s possible she could have spent 6 years this scared. We only wish we knew a little more about her and what she was like before she got to the shelter. About 9 pounds, Mocha seems like she would most certainly be happier anywhere else. Please consider rescuing or adopting this girl and giving her a chance to feel safe and secure again. All North Central animals come spayed/neutered, microchipped and current on all their shots (including rabies). North Central LA City shelter; 3201 Lacy St., Los Angeles, CA; 213-485-5767.

The Friends of the Baldwin Park “Shelter’s” Pets are pleased to announce that Cherry has been rescued!!!

Adopted and Rescued Pets Volume 43
A4784020 Cherry is a fetching two year old brown with white markings female Chihuahua/Dachshund mix who was jettisoned at the Baldwin Park “Shelter” with her sister Chiquis (A4784018) on December 13th when their former owner moved and was too lazy or heartless to either bring their pets with them or find these great dogs a safe home. Weighing fifteen pounds, Cherry somewhat gets the idea of walking on leash but is not yet a master of it. She is bonded with Chiquis and it is preferable, but not mandatory, that they be adopted together. She is good with other dogs, and this medium energy level girl was good with the children that she previously lived with. Cherry is a gentle and loving indoor pet for anyone in any living situation.

We’ve been crunching numbers and we’ve spent almost $6,000 on medical expenses for shelter pets this year. That’s a lot of “bones”! You can still help C.A.R.E. Medical Fund by making a tax deductible donation by year end. CARE is a registered 501(c)(3), tax-exempt nonprofit organization. You can make a one-time donation or choose to make your gift monthly.
