****GIVES LOVE INSTANTLY****
A volunteer writes: Symmetry and perfection is vastly overrated; how can you look at this face and not fall instantly in love….a scar (from an allergic reaction to chemicals on a lawn when he was a puppy), and an adorable under bite all contribute to making Brisk the most adorable dog ever. His coat is a gorgeous deep caramel color, and although he’s a bit too thin in my opinion, it gleams with good care. His ears are amazingly clean, all indications of a well cared for little boy. Surrendered by his family of adults and children as they are moving where he is not welcome, we’re told that: “he’s gentle in play with kids, lived with a 9 year old cat and was respectful and sometimes frightened of her, loves to play with other dogs, loves long walks and jogging, is housetrained and knows ‘sit’, ‘lie down’, ‘come here’, ‘stay’ and ‘go in the room’.” Brisk leans in for petting, enjoyed sitting at my feet as I took some notes, got the zoomies at one point, and showed off his ‘sit’ as soon as he saw my hand going into my treat bag. He’s an awesome friendly, affectionate and playful dog who needs a new family to take care of. Acing his behavior assessment indicates he’ll be a good fit in just about any home. You won’t find Brisk in adoptions as he barks at strangers as his former owner advised. We’re all strangers, so Brisk barks in his kennel. He’ so worth meeting, so please ask to meet him when you visit. You will be a stranger for about 5 seconds, and then you’ll be his friend, just as I was. Handsome, playful, friendly, affectionate good with people, children, dogs and cats, Brisk is hoping …read more

Due to landlord problems Rusty’s owner can not keep him Now he is down to his last night in the shelter. Please help Rusty before it is to late…
A volunteer writes: Rusty was a bit shy at the beginning of our first date (he is a teenage boy, after all) but sooo happy I’d picked him from the pack, coming forward in his kennel for petting and frantically wagging his tail as I tried to lasso him with the leash. Fast forward a couple of days and now he’s waiting right at the door, confident and eager to get out and have some fun with his new girlfriend, lucky me! In his enthusiasm he does pull quite hard on leash but a quick switch to a harness and we’re strutting off to the park with ease, Rusty discretely taking care of ‘business’ along the way. A storm the day before has left its mark and he’s delighted by the muddy grass and entranced by a huge flood puddle on the path – if I’d been on board with the plan, I think he’d have gone for a swim! Back on dry land, Rusty’s all cool with wearing a scarf for our photo shoot and comes immediately when called (that’s my kind of man!) to sit politely for treats, taking them like a gentleman from my hand. Surrendered to our care when his life-long owner moved into a NYCHA building, we’re told that Rusty is not only house but also crate trained, loves to play and knows ‘lie down’ and ‘give paw’ in addition to his ‘sit’. He’s said to not get along so well with children and seems to be more of a ‘people dog’ than a dog’s dog, pulling and barking at others when we pass in the …read more

**** SECOND TIME ON LIST, WON’T GET ANOTHER ONE****
Poor Debo has not had it easy. Adopted from the shelter quite a while ago, he now finds himself back at the shelter at 9 years old due to “allergies.” Yes he has some mild skin issues, but nothing that cannot be treated very easily. The bigger issue with Debo is that he seems to want to protect his food and toys which has earned him a NH rating. This means that if Debo is to be saved, potential fosters or adopters must contact New Hope rescues for help. Debo has many strikes against him – his age, his breed, his skin allergies and his “alpha” nature – none of which are his fault. Debo needs a miracle tonight – one person who will love him the way he is and take the time to help him be the awesome dog he was meant to be. It won’t be easy but if we all advocate for Debo tonight, maybe he will find that needle in a haystack – the perfect home. Please don’t let tonight be Debo’s last. Share, advocate, contact rescues, adopt. the clock is ticking. Help Debo now!

HAVE FUN WITH FRECKLES! Freckles is a guy smack in the middle of his adult dog years and is just itching for a new BFF. He is an active guy who most likely would love to have lots of walks or even be a jogging buddy for his new owner. The intake assessment team deemed this fine fellow to be “friendly and allowing all handling” which is always a great sign. Freckles has a sophisticated beige and white coat with a wide open friendly face ready to greet the world with lots of hellos. His enthusiasm is demonstrated when he pulls a bit on the leash, and some training could easily reduce if desired. Helping Freckles out of the ACC is key as he will be headed to the euth room if not taken by noon tomorrow. Let’s keep that from happening by working hard for Freckles release now!

By Angels Among Us Pet Rescue

FOSTER NEEDED! Little girl Tortie kitten, Dolly, needs a foster. She is about 12 weeks old. Dolly is indeed a little doll – she is sweet as pie, talkative and wants to sit in your lap as long as you will let her. She doesn’t bother anyone and she doesn’t mind cats or dogs. In fact, she is a bit lonely without any playmates. Nobody was taking care of Dolly when she came to us and she was in bad shape. That yucky eye in her picture is all better. We have given Dolly all the medicine she needs. What she needs now is to find her family. We know they are somewhere out there. Please consider fostering her – she needs an Angel to help her find her forever home!

Email catfoster@angelsrescue.org for more information on becoming a foster! Or, submit your foster application here –>>
