The story of Duke and Duchess…

On June 10, the shelter received a call about two dogs abandoned after their owner moved and left them there to die. They named them Duke and Duchess in hopes that their name will bring them the royal treatment they deserve after the cruelty and suffering they have endured.

Upon intake at the shelter, Duke was in critical condition. His body temperature was dropping and he was literally dying. The vet said that he would have been dead within an hour or so, had they not been there in time. He needed an emergency blood transfusion, and this is where Woodrow comes into the picture. A vet tech, Felicia, went to look for a strong Pitbull (same breed) that could be a possible match and she found this sweet happy boy who literally saved the life of this starving boy.

Right after the transfusion, Woodrow was resting on the floor, waking up from anesthesia and it was as if Duke somehow knew this dog had just saved him. Barely being able to walk, he slowly made is way over to Woodrow and literally laid down on top of him.

On June 17, just one week later, Duke stands and wags his tail and gives kisses. A blessing!

Duke is very sweet and Duchess is also a kind soul. They still trust humans in spite of all they’ve been through. This is a cruelty case and we want Duke and Duchess to have a rescue lined up to take them and give them the TLC and pampering they deserve and then find them a great home together because they love each other so much.
