I met Midnight a while ago but I do not remember her. She seems changed from her picture taken then and is so much more beautiful and engaging now. She is welcoming in her kennel, her tail beating the walls when she sees me. Yes, she is a Rottie with a tail. Those tails have to be watched carefully or they can whip painfully your legs or thighs in a moment of happiness. Midnight is beautiful and healthy looking. Her weight is just perfect. her eyes sparkle among the cinnamon markings lighting up her face. She wears a subtile smile. Midnight walks quite well on the leash, pulling a little at times. She eliminating upon exiting the building. She loves food like every rote on the planet and begs miserably for roast beef. No shame, none. Free …read more

This adorable little girl was found tied up but was clearly well taken care of. Her coat is clean and groomed, her weight perfect for her size and her nails trimmed. The whole time I was with her I kept thinking, ‘that’s the biggest milk mustache I’ve ever seen’. I don’t know why the white around her mouth made me think that – and of course, that ordinary milk wasn’t the cause – she must have been drinking a vanilla milkshake! Baby (for short), cries in her kennel for attention so out we go. Wagging her tail as we walk, she pulls a bit on the leash in her excitement at being out. We stopped to take some pictures and posing perfectly she kept tilting her head in concentration as I made kissy noises at her. I love a head tilter! Sweeping some reward treats gently from my hand, Baby then gave me some kisses and hugs. She’s compact and easy and gives great hugs! Baby grabbed the leash as we walked back as her former owner may have thought tug of war with the leash was fun. After a quick no, and a treat bribe she released immediately and we continued on. Off leash in the backyard she wasn’t interested in playing ball, and greeted dogs stopping …read more

JAZMINE – A0991814

I am an unaltered female, white and brown Pit Bull Terrier mix.

The shelter staff think I am about 3 years old.

I weigh 44 pounds.

I was found in NY 11237.

I have been at the shelter since Feb 17, 2014.

A volunteer writes:
A colleague said to me, “there’s an angel of a little girl that you have to meet”. And, so I did, and so she is! Jazmine makes herself small in her kennel, but when she sees me her tail wags a little and she comes forward. She’s painfully thin and has pressure sores on her hip bones, so we are feeding her an extra meal daily to help her gain some weight. Jazmine has had a litter or two in her lifetime, and perhaps no longer needed to make babies was turned out on the street. I don’t think there is a sweeter more affectionate girl at the shelter right now. Jazmine has absolutely perfect leash manners, walking right by my side, and eliminating the moment we go outside. She’s super hugger and kisser, grateful for the attention, welcoming it, but a little shy about it all at the same time. She allowed me to put a coat on her thin frame, allows all handling, including cleaning her feet when we came back into the building. Giving me a stand up hug and kiss as we became friends, my heart melted for this little girl. It would seem that she has not had the easiest life, and it’s up to us to make it up to her. Jazmine is a diamond in the rough and just needs a little polish …read more

I am an unaltered female, gray and white Pit Bull Terrier mix.

The shelter staff think I am about 8 months old.

I weigh 28 pounds.

I was found in NY 10467.

I have been at the shelter since Feb 17, 2014.

A volunteer writes:
There’s nothing like a mani/pedi to help a girl feel better about herself. Bella has beautiful pink polish, but has a long way to go in the care department. She has a skin condition which is why she was surrendered into our care. A little itty bitty pocket pittie, Bella is a total snuggler wagging her tail happy to be going out to go potty. She didn’t like the cold and needed some coaxing to come for a walk, but a coat helped her feel better. She lays curled up in her kennel napping, and when I gave her a stuffed animal to keep her company she cuddled with it and slept with her head on it. So sweet! Her former family tells us that she lived with 3 adults, I child, and I senior, is very friendly, gets along with all people ignores other animals, knows ‘sit’, ‘give paw’, is housebroken and paper trained, and loves to play. Bella is a total snuggler, coming into my lap for hugs and kisses her little tail wagging away. She loves people, happy when people stop to meet her, as despite her skin condition, her sweet demeanor shines through her adorable little face. She seems friendly to other dogs, stopping in front of other kenneled dogs to say hello with a wave of her tail. Bella needs some TLC to truly …read more

******NEW BEGINNINGS******

Who can forget Princess formerly a resident of Brooklyn ACC? She was turned into the shelter due to her owner being evicted. Her owner surrender photo tugged at all our hearts, well thanks to her wonderful new Mommy and Amsterdog she is safe and being spoiled rotten.

NEW BEGINNINGS 6
Princess arrived home with me very late Sunday night after a long transport to Buffalo.
From the moment the Mayors Alliance van open two things were clear her condition was very poor but she was full of love and kisses. After a long warm bath and a meal she settled right in.
Has has met her new brother Tyson formally Simon a fellow survivor who arrived one year ago to the very day of her arrival.
Ty and Princess seem like besties from the start.

She is emaciated and has some skin issues but time and love will heal her. Princess is smart, polite and just wants to please.
She will never be homeless again. Thank you Amsterdog !!!!!
